CBCC Business and Accounting students

benefit from new scholarship

Endowment established to honor late CCBC Emeritus Professor Kathleen Gandy

The CCBC Foundation announced a new endowed scholarship established by the Dr. Kathleen Gandy Impact Foundation, Inc. The new scholarship honors the late Kathleen Gandy – professor emeritus who passed away in 2013. The scholarship will support currently enrolled full and part-time CCBC students majoring in business and accounting; thereby, continuing Gandy’s legacy and contributions to education.

“The Gandy Foundation Scholarship Fund is reflective of Dr. Gandy's love for her students, the college and her impact on lives and the community,” replied Laurence Aaronson, CCBC professor emeritus of Business Studies and president of the Kathleen Gandy Impact Foundation. “We are excited about creating this scholarship fund to help both full and part-time students who are committed to obtaining their associate degrees and achieving their personal career objectives.”

To many, Gandy was more than a CCBC professor. She was a mentor, colleague, social advocate, global educator and friend. During her tenure, Gandy participated in international service learning where she naturally moved from participant to leader, becoming a faculty advisor and leading students on several trips to Belize. She was also the faculty advisor for the CCBC Chapter of Enactus (previously called Students in Free Enterprise) where she inspired students to compete and gain regional success.

The Dr. Kathleen Gandy Impact Foundation, Inc. is committed to honoring the spirit of Dr. Kathleen Gandy by honoring those who are making a difference in the community, funding research to fight cancer and encouraging educational opportunities for all.
